Mandolin Lessons

The mandolin has a long distinguished history. It evolved from the lute in Italy and was a popular instrument in the Baroque period.  Notable composers such as Vivaldi wrote important pieces for it.

This was the first instrument I ever picked up as my dad had two bowlback mandolins when I was a kid. They unfortunately went missing when we moved house, but it was always at the back of my mind to have a real go at playing one when I was older

I now own my own bowlback mandolin as well as a flat back.

I teach a variety of styles ranging from Folk to Bluegrass and Classical and take all levels of students, from beginning and upwards, so if you’re just starting out, don’t worry! Lessons can be 30 mins or an hour, it’s up to you. The first step is to contact me and we can discuss your needs and interests.

I am available in Edinburgh from 9am to 8pm on weekdays, and some weekends.

In Glasgow, I am available one Saturday a month, by arrangement.
